Thank You Mom

Thanking mom for the small little things she does is not what many of us do. Why? Because we're used to not acknowledge her support. We're so dependent on our mom's help that it has become a habit. Right from your birth, a mother faces a lot of hurdles, difficulties, sacrifice, dedication towards your excellence which is barely noticed.
At a certain age, we learn the three magical words: Thank you, sorry and please. And also, their importance, where and when to use them and also how they magically help one achieve what he/she wants. I've learnt it in my second grade, that thank you is a word used to express gratitude, to show someone that we are thankful for what they've done.
Years passed by. There came a time when I came back from college and there were no one at home as my family had to attend some wedding. My mom was out of city then. I called her to inform I was alone at home. Also, I asked her to help me cook something for myself as I was damn hungry and lazy enough to not step out. She taught me how to make tomato rice step by step. Thanks to Skype, I managed not to ruin it. It was the first time I made something for myself to eat. I felt so independent. Not knowing how to express it, I simply said "Thank you amma" to which my mom replied " Why are you thanking me, stupid girl? It's my duty." That is when I realized everything she has done for me and I've taken for granted every time. I simply said good night and hung up.
